Symmetry is offered in six models to be used throughout a behavioral health/high abuse facility, including 23", and 45" models for general use, tunable/circadian lighting, and patient room overbed. These behavioral health/high abuse models have general use Symmetry's same shape with the addition of polycarbonate lens and tamper-resistant fasteners.

Symmetry's patented concave round lens provides quality illumination that is non-institutional looking and designed to bring a calming ambiance into applications that can be traditionally high-stress for patients and staff. View Symmetry Gallery
Behavioral health/high abuse facility design, whether hospital units or inpatient psychiatric centers, has shifted dramatically in the last decade. In addition to safety, most published standards for behavioral health/high abuse design now consider aesthetics to be a crucial factor in the quality of care. Symmetry's circular form factor and echoing lens curves create a more relaxing and comfortable environment, while high-quality sources enhance the environment with pleasant, soothing ambient lighting.
During product development, we reached out to specifiers of behavioral health/high abuse applications to discuss their concerns. What we found was that, while architecture and interior design in these spaces have grown immensely in the last decade, luminaire product design has lagged behind the innovative curve. We sat down with specifiers to work together on new concepts that could match up to current aesthetic, performance, and safety standards.

Shift the color temperature in this 2' or 4' circular ceiling light to optimize CCT according to the environment or the time of day. Align light output with circadian rhythm to better match the gradual dimming effect humans experience underneath the sun. Pair with non-tunable models within a space for a cohesive lighting design.
Lighting that is Both Safe and Therapeutic in Design
Behavioral health/high abuse facilities require a higher level of environmental safety precautions. Luminaires present in patient areas must be tamper-resistant, ligature-resistant, and impact-resistant so they do not pose a threat when damaged or combined with other objects.
Symmetry ceiling lights are tested to IK10+ standards, which means they can withstand over 100 joules of mechanical impact. They are constructed with a 3/16” polycarbonate lens, which is fastened behind the minimal frame with tamper-resistant screws. Each model can be installed flush to the drywall/sheetrock ceiling, and recessed 5-7”.
